A Rare Late 19th Century Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted King Size Bed. By Durand. French Furniture Makers of the 18th and 19th Centuries Found Little Need in Making King Size Beds as the Demand was Very Low For Such Large Sleeping Arrangements. The Largest the Beds Usually Made Were Either a Double or European Queen. It is Very Rare to Actually Find a Special King Size Bed From That Time Period. Durand Made 'ebeniste du roi' in 1839 and exhibited at Industrial Products Exhibitions in 1834,1839, and 1844, as well as the Paris Exhibition of 1855.   Item #7341.

Bed: Height: 63" ;  Width: 80" ;  Length: 90"
