A Palatial Late 18th Century Louis XVI Hand Carved Walnut and Mahogany Armoire

The country French cabinet with a rectangular cornice above a pair of large doors raised on short cabriole legs surmounted by ram’s heads and hooves. The top with two large cornucopia with bouquets of flowers, the doors carved with plaques of musical instruments, trophies and foliate arabesques, one side carved with a scene of a boat sailing off into the sunset, the other of a lake scene with lily pads and cattails, each surrounded by double loop bows and flowers.
While not signed by a specific artist or firm, the amount of work, time and effort put into making such a high quality carved piece must have meant this was commissioned for a client of both worth and stature.
